Activities
#1.
The teacher asks
students to work in groups of four. She assigns a topic to each group. Students
must create a mind map providing background knowledge of the topic. This
activity is carried out in a laboratory. Each student should be working on the
mind map using a computer. This application allows students to work in groups
but it is not necessary to be together, they could be working separately on the
same mind map. Each group should present their mind map in front of the class.
The teacher gives them feedback.
#2. The teacher uses SpiderScribe to present the topic “Causes
and Effects of Natural Resources Misuse.” She creates a mind map organizing the
causes, effects and possible solutions of a specific environmental problem. Students
ask questions if they have doubts.
#3.
Students are asked
to do research about a touristic attraction in Costa Rica. Then, they should
create a mind map using SpiderScribe. They should include the facilities that
touristic attraction offers and which it does not. Images are a must in their
mind map. They should present their mind maps in front of the class. The
teacher gives them feedback.
